Question in bold first the backstory.
got a phone call from a Alzheimer's care facility(I am looking for my first job out of college as an activity assistant in a nursing home/retirement village/adult day care/Alzheimer's care facility. I have sent out 80 resumes and filled out an application from careerbuilder.) on Friday saying I had a job offer, part time 2 days a week. I was told to call so-and-so at this number. The phone call went straight to my voice mail. The call was roughly at 1:30 PM Central Time. I called back and left a message. About an hour later with no response I called back left another message. Then my phone battery proceeded to die on me. In another hour I called again from a different phone. Was not able to get ahold of the individual but left a message at the facility's front desk. I decided with a family member to head out there and check the place out. I went home, and called at 5 PM and left three numbers to call. I thought she would call today, no dice. My mother thinks I should wait to see if she calls. Should I try calling first thing tomorrow? |

Give it till morning, Deej. Your instructions were to call that number and you did. There is a fine line between looking eager for the job and looking like a stalker. Give them a little while to get back to you; it sounds like a small facility without a standalone human resources department.Good luck with it, though! Part-time is better than no-time! ![]() - BG PS. Your pics with [not gonna post her name] look adorable. |

I'd like to explain my statements:
-calling back about an hour later is a bit much....maybe calling back the next day would be good. -calling from another phone could be also a bit much if the recipient has caller ID (same guy, two phones, wtf?) -too much attention comes across as hassling the HR minions. They don't take kindly to that since they hold all the cards. I commend your focus but am more concerned that it could be misinterpreted (which is what you don't want.....) Give it a few days then try another call. You might want to mention the multiple calls you made already, to get that out of the way. Good luck, job hunting always sucks... |

I got up at 8, was advised to call at 8:40, figuring she started activities at 9.
Front desk said call at 10, because that's when she gets in. I call at 10, someone in Activities said so-and-so doesn't get in until 1:30-2:00. Why would a person say there's a job offer and not follow through?

When you have an application out, keep your phone charged and turned on during normal business hours. Always david... this is sage! Totally dropped the ball there, I know.

They sound a bit disorganized. Yup. Seems like one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

Why would a person say there's a job offer and not follow through? ![]() Because some people have no class. On the other hand, there may have been some extenuating circumstances. I would call once, leave a message and wait 24 hours to call again. If I didn't leave a message, I'd leave some decent period of time (like 1/2 a day) between calls. Some people spend all day in meetings and getting the time to return a call isn't easy. Don't rest in your search until you're signed up and employed. Good luck, this may still work out. |
