Lone Starr: Oh, great. That's just what we needed: a Druish princess.

Barf: Funny. She doesn't look Druish.

I was a fan from his old SCTV days till the day he croaked. Uncle Buck was definitely his best work.

I remember reading somewhere that he smoked about 4 packs a day. Probably not the best idea, specifically for a guy that's 200+ lbs overweight

I think that was one of his best lines in Uncle Buck.

I sure miss him and wish he was still around.

Early John Candy on SCTV as his unlikeable character, Johnny Larue.

Not widely known and even less well liked, but Canadian Bacon always cracked me up.

He was one funny fat dude.  Can't believe it's already been 20 years.

He didn't have to try hard, he was just funny.

Yes.

One of the 80's best comic minds.

He really brought all of it to his roles.

I love that movie.

I dated a Canadian girl back in the day and every time I'd go up to see her I'd pretty much reenact it.

Not really. Was pretty limited in his character development, IMO. He played nothing other than goofy, oddball characters. Virtually every major comedy actor was able to play deeply developed character, IMO. Robin Williams had his Patch Adams role for example.

Candy was overrated & only got by due to some good supporting actors: Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, etc.

I used to own nearly the same car as the one from PTaA. It was in about the same condition as their Town and Country at the end of the movie. I loved that car, but it was too far rusted to save.
