I have a Japanese import of Still

It has a live cover of Sister Ray that's pretty awesome.  It ends with Curtis saying, "You should hear our version of Louie, Louie...whoa"

What's with all these music video threads?  We have a music section in General, and all it is doing is cluttering up GD with more inane bullshit.....

seriously?

Yeah, we could have had another thread about Hillary staggering, stumbling, then being dragged into the van.  Although those threads could go in Politics & Activism so...

The Eternal.

Procession moves on, the shouting is over
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain

Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside

Cry like a child, though these years make me older
With children my time is so wastefully spent
A burden to keep, though their inner communion
Accept like a curse, an unlucky deal

Played by the gate at the foot of the garden
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall
No words could explain, no actions determine
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall

How about genre defining. And it's not supposed to have polished vocals.

Those guys had quite a lot to do with the 80's sounding the way that it did.

This is a sick cover done by Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy. Both of these guys voices fit the song so damn well.

Very true, without them and a few others music would still be vary 70s sounding through out the 80s, a huge influence that most have forgotten

I have their lesser known songs on a playlist I haven't listened to, yet.

I like The Smiths too.

I've been really into 70s/80's shit like this. It's a break from my usual Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, Coheed and Cambria, Zao, Cursive, Swans, etc. habits.

I fucking love that Trent Reznor/Peter Murphy remake, btw. He did one with Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame (I love them too) of Immigrant Song that's worth hearing, and him and Saul Williams did "Sunday Bloody Sunday".

Always loved their music, especially when I was younger and depressed.

For a while, when I had a myspace page (around ten years ago, I think ), I was friends with Ian Curtis's daughter Natalie. She's a pretty good photographer.
