I saw it last week and now I understand why it did so well. It is a great movie.

People out there with teenage daughters, do your girls really talk like that? Not the sass so much but all of the slang was suprising to me.

Just finished it.  It was a good movie, but not funny.  The only funny part was when Juno said "And I listened to your Sonic Youth album, and it sucked.  It's just noise!"

 Because it's true

Funniest part was when Juno talked to Bleaker(sp?) at the lockers and they show the other girls eye

EXTREMELY OVER-RATED

does the same stuff that many, many indie movies have done thousands of times before it.

Great movie.

I started a thread about it in GD after I saw it in the theater. I never recommend movies, but it was good.

good movie.. check out the movie 'Rocket Science'

Somewhat similar, in that strange awkward humor. I agree with the above poster, it's not like Napoleon Dynamite, but it shares some qualities.. i can't put my finger on it.

anyway, you can find 'Rocket Science' online.

I was very disappointed in the movie, especially for an ARFCOM recommendation.

I couldn't stand Juno's character, the plot, and most of the music in the film. The best part was Rainn Wilson's character, and the film could be better if he had a bigger part in the movie. Instead I had to sit through a movie with a smart-ass irresponsible main character that needed a backhand to her jaw.

I would rather sit through The Notebook than watch Juno again. At least that would get me brownie points with my wife.

I didn't think I'd like it at all, but it turned out to be a decent watch.

I liked August Rush better though (the last movie I watched before Juno).

wow.. i don't know how to be tactful in saying this, so... august rush was gay. completely and utterly, i got stuck watching it on a plane and i found it unintentionally hilarious.

the kid finds his parents... through music. HAHAHAHAHAHA! oh yea, and he lives with an old pedophile for a while too.. c'mon man. that movie should be ARFcom banned.

I can't believe y'all liked this movie, tried to watch it the other night and turned it off after 40 minutes or so - I just could not stand it. Crappy music with dorky teenagers, no thanks - I didn't find any of it funny in the least. Must be for the young crowd.

"Hi, my name is Juno and I'm calling for a hasty abortion....oh wait...sorry I'm on my hamburger phone"  HI-FUCKING-LARIOUS!

If you liked her in Juno or didn't, rent HARD CANDY with Ellen Page.

She is a phenom. I hope she doesn't Britney/Lindsay/Paris her life!

Good movie... but I thought it was way overrated... much like Little Miss Sunshine.
- I thought the girl was way too "mature" for her age... her dialogue just seemed really contrived... like the moronic writing Kevin Smith does for his characters where the guys are pretty much fuck-ups but their wordage reflects someone who took all AP courses in HS and was part of the "smart but cool-in-a-geeky-kind-of-way" kids. How many people actually talk like that. And how many 16 year olds are that heavy into music that is way beyond their years... I'm sure they're out there but...
- The actress was pretty awesome though
- I thought the thing between her and Jason Bateman was kinda creepy
- Jennifer Garner was so uptight it made me constipated
- I like the guy that player Juno's BF, but he's also way uptight or nervous or something... cool actor but I'm not sure I believe there are many kids like that.
- The parents were pretty awesome. I love the scene at the ultrasound.

I think this review more or less sums up how I thought of it:

Overdone, overbaked writing

I liked Juno, I really, really did, swear to blog I did! But when a 16 year old mentions Soupy Sales (yes, she did), the believability meter drops to sub-zero. As awesome as Ellen Page is, I never felt it was her talking. It seems like we are listening to the screenwriter 100 percent of the time.

Sure, it's witty, funny, and sharp....but everything is so densely packed, that we feel like Diablo Cody was frightened into thinking this would be her only time to say EVERYTHING she feels about EVERYTHING. A lot of it was just too much. A little too anxious, a little too much. We get it, we get it, don't hit us over the head with everything.

Interesting to see so many condemn Juno because they don't think teenagers are that way in real life. I found the dialogue totally realistic. Sure most teens aren't that way, but I know & grew up with people that were that bright & intense.

My daughter, for one, can talk and does similarly to Juno.

Keeps me on my toes.

I do not consider that a proponent of teen pregnancy. It is just a story.

I liked it.  I thought the teen dialogue was very real.  Hopefully a cool, witty teen movie where the heroine does not get an abortion will save a few lives down at the abortion clinic.

OK, just got it off the morale drive, and am going to watch it tonight.

It sounds like it's a good movie, so I am going to try it.
