I anticipate a lot of mikle will go on this 2 wheeled puppy before I tire of it... where did the dual head lights come from? and forgive me, but what is mikle? |

Quoted: Quoted: Congrats. KLR650.net is the ARFcom of that bike, lots of info there if you haven't checked it out already. became a member the day i got the bike... i'm just wondering what the gun nuts have to say about it. That's like asking KLR650.net about home-defense guns. ![]() Other than the required mods, it's all personal taste. I like Pelican/Caribou panniers for durability, on a KLR that will likely be on its side at somepoint, flimsy panniers are a waste. Or, if you go light just do the Giant Loop bags...that's a slick system. My taste in a dual sport/adventure bike are the things that help me ride it well...higher bars with a comfortable sweep, heated grips, comfy seat, larger footpegs, good skid plate, ditch unneeded weight, and aggressive tires. But, that's me...no idea how you'll ride it or where. |

Just go ahead and pull the windscreen off now and leave it off. The stock one buffets right under the bottom of your helmet and the taller aftermarket windscreens raise it up high enough to beat you around the head at freeway speeds and knock a good 5-10mph off your top speed. The ride is so much better without the screen... |

I bought a brand new 2008 and it blew a exhaust relief valve at 1200 miles. Hasn't been running since.
They seem like good bikes and a good friend has a 250 he has been riding as a commuter bike for 10 years. Just keep up on the maintenance and do your FULL PMCS every time you ride. |

You mean the Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release device? So fix it, it's not that hard. Buy a factory service manual, you're a guy, you have tools, fix the damn thing.

It broke and threw the camshaft into the head and then little peices of metal all up in the engine when all the oil went flying out. But yea I intend to fix it. Actually thinking about having it bored out to 801. |

You bought a brand new bike and it blew up? How come you didn't take it to the dealer where you bought it and get it fixed under warranty? Cause it happened right when it was out of warranty. That and I didn't know it had one. No big deal though. It didn't have enough power anyways so I'm gonna bore it and stroke it. |

I have a KLR650 with the 685 kit. No one makes a stroker rod for the KLR650. If you are looking for more power then you need to buy a Husky 610 / 630 or a KTM 640 / 690. By the time you fix the head problem, big bore 705 kit, oversized stainless valves, port job you would be better of spending the money on a "real" dual sport bike. |

Those Happy Trail nerf bars suck shit. You would have been better of getting an Acerbis gas tank for the bike. A good nerf bar needs to be three point mounted, those Happy Trail ones don't cut it. The problem with the KLR650 is that most companies use the foot peg mount for the other mounting point, the KLR's foot peg mount is a known weak point for the foot pegs alone, adding that nerf bar mount does not help out. Even the Dual Star rad guards suck. http://www.vaq34.com/junk/16_nov_08_klr_rad_crash_002.jpg http://www.vaq34.com/junk/orange_and_green_003.jpg The Acerbis tank is a much better radiator protector. i've been looking into these, who's got the best deal around? |

I rode 5 days with a buddy on one, he was happy as a clam on it. |
