"What kind is it?"

"The kind that blows up! How the hell do I know what kind it is?"

I did not know this fact until maybe ten years ago: whoever made that movie NAILED the uniforms the GI's wore.
Frontline infantrymen in the ETO wore the brownish "OD's" made of woolen flannel; support troops and Armored
troops wore HBT cotton two-piece uniforms. Kelly's Heroes accurately depicted this.

One of the best war movies ever made, IMO. It is one of my three favorite WWII movies to this day.

"Look, Captain, I gotta get my guys around some Broads before they start freaking out with each other!"

"Will you quit crying, I haven't even asked you for anything yet! The Hell's the matter with you?!"

Saw it in the theater when I was like 12. Liked it then and still do. If I'm channel surfing and it is on TV I will stop and watch it.

"Mulligan? On time and on target? He ain't been that yet!"

We see our role as essentially defensive in nature. While our armies are advancing so fast and everyone’s knocking themselves out to be heroes, we are holding ourselves in reserve in case the Krauts mount a counteroffensive which threatens Paris… or maybe even New York. Then we can move in and stop them. But for 1.6 million dollars, we could become heroes for three days.

The only way I  got to keep those tigers busy is to let them shoot holes in me!
Before cable we only had network TV and when this came on the CBS Friday night movie,I’d be over the moon.

Always loved Kelly's Heroes. I've always heard about The Dirty Dozen but never saw it... until just now. Jesus, does that movie suck. It's just a stupid ass movie. What a let down. I kept think "this really sucks but maybe it'll get better". Finally got to the castle and thought, "this is it, now they'll kick ass and the movie will redeem itself." Nope. They bungle-fucked that whole thing too. Just a punch of stupid ass characters fuckin up everything they touched. Lee Marvin's character was the only one with a teaspoon of grey matter in his head. And talk about shitty acting. My 6 year old can pretend to die better than any of those actors did. Now I need to watch Kelly's Heroes again to cleanse my pallet and regain respect for half the cast of that turd movie I just suffered through.

Great movie, with a lot of great actors. Good combat scenes. War movie with a little comedy/humor mixed. Good soundtrack. I had the pleasure of seeing it in the theater when it came out. Still have the Soundtrack on VINYL!!!!!!!

Watch it OP. My bet is you'll like it.

I watched it from the Officer's balcony at NAS Moffet Field, when it first came out.
Have the soundtrack on Vinyl, too.

The unlikely choice of The Mike Curb Congregation's "Burning Bridges" was the icing on the cake for that movie.

Mike Curb was the Republican Lt. Gov under Moonbeam.
California is weird like that, sometimes they split Gov/Lt Gov between R & D.

I still stand by my assertion that it is the most accurate movie about WW2, if not modern combat in general.
