Anybody here studied it? I studied Karate as a kid and Aikido when I was in college. I get a sense that Krave Maga is real "to the point" fighting without having to learn certain "styles" and katas. Is this pretty practical stuff? There are a few schools here where I live, considering giving it a try. Any opinions, experiences? |

Look a little further down the page. [;)] Somebody else was just asking about this. Short version is it's not as direct as WWII Combatives (what is?) but I found it a *lot* more practical than the few "traditional" things I tried. Lots of stress drills, practice in street clothes, more emphasis on doing something that works than doing the "right move", etc. They don't care about belts, they don't have kata, it's not about point sparring. They get a little obsessive over "the pluck" (you'll see what I mean) and seem a little commercialized/flashy on their advertising. No harm, I suppose. Gotta drum up business, right? Anyway, IMVHO, you should attend a class and/or call for a one-on-one "show me" meeting with an instructor. Wear a cup. |
