Does anyone know of an LED light that is a direct replacement for a 50W GU10 halogen lamp?  By this I mean, it is a drop in replacement into existing 120 VAC track lighting fixtures, is dimmable (using existing wall dimmer by Lutron, or other dimmer unit) and puts out the same amount of light and approximately the same light pattern as my halogen GU10 lamps.

If so, who makes them?  I'd like to buy a bunch of them.

Thanks for your help.

You may have some problems finding dimmable ones, using current dimmers.

Mike, I have no idea as to the answer, but I would suggest you call your local electrical supplier, and/or a commercial place that sells light fixtures.

Maybe someone here knows though.

If you're looking for LED lamps in the 50W range, I think you'll find an equivalent plasma rifle will be cheaper today.

Seriously, such LED lamps are just now becoming available at the big stores like Home Depot, and I read they're something like $40 a pop.  I think they're for 110V not 12V.  It'll be quite a few years before they become reasonably priced.

Here for instance:  (OK I was a bit off, $20 each at Depot)

I need only ten of them, so paying $30 or even $40 each is not a problem.  Heck, I'd even be willing to buy a different dimmer if it were under $100.  The problem is finding an actual replacement light. as described in my original post.

The heroLED item has only 280 lumen output.  This compares unfavorably with the 430 lumen output from a 50W halogen lamp.  Plus it is "cool white" like a flourescent lamp, not warm white like a halogen bulb.  Still, thanks for finding it.  It is the best one so far.  I may buy one as a test unit.

10W (5x2W): http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/6629473/Dimmable_LED_spotlight_5_2_W_Cree_GU10_600LM.html very flaky site though.

Best I can do.

The only led lights i have are Christmas lights or flashlights.  The Christmas lights are awesome.  The flashlights are good, but with the ones I have the ability to illuminate at a distance isn't as good as incandescents.

This article seems to say the same about LED light bulbs:

Thanks, guys, that was a big help.  I may buy one or two as an experiment but I'm not jumping in to replace all 10 of my incandescent track lights - not yet, anyway.

I ordered one of these to test out.  It's 390 lumens, 120 VAC and dimmable using conventional dimmers.  $40 is a lot for a single bulb.  The $16 shipping and $4 tax handling is RIDICULOUS.  That totalled to $60 for one farking bulb.
