| Do you guys ever see a bumper sticker and want to pull someone over because of it? |
|
Quoted:
I made the decision to pull a car over based on actual law. I can't remember noticing a bumper sticker before I pulled the car over. There is no reason to worry about a bumper sticker in the inner city. But you did pull over people for those stick on Buick portholes on the front fender though, right? |
|
I got pulled over and grilled by ODNR once because a buddy had slapped an "Earth First" bumper sticker on my truck without me knowing. I drove around a few days that way and apparently landed on some kind of watch list. We talked for a while and I could easily see how they had a valid reason to want to talk to me. This was back when they were taking lots of direct action and spiking trees to mess with loggers. Fortunately, my truck was extremely dirty and the sticker came off easily. |

You need to explain that to me. Do you mean fake bullet hole stickers? No, never did. There were cars rolling around that had been shot when the intended target was missed, but there's no reason to pulll them over just for that. |

They said that was part of the reason, that I might be a young gun-runner, after noticing my arfcom license-plate frame... Which prompted them to run my tag and discover that my license had been suspended. (I honestly didn't know that till they stopped me. Had moved, insurance change - old company told the state I didn't have insurance, new company didn't bother to let them know I actually did have coverage. License suspended for a coupla' years and I didn't even know it.) |

| I only asked because my old neighbor who was a supervisor at the time mentioned the big green leaf and 420 stickers. He said that if it was one of the moments where the officer may not have pulled over a normal person ie 40 in a 35, but they saw the full retard stickers on the back, then they would stop them. |

Don't be surprised when you have that and the leaf medalion hanging from the rearview mirror if you get asked about weed in the car. |

Couldn't have cared less about what bumper stickers people had on their cars, wasn't why they were being stopped when I was working traffic enforcement. However, when I pulled over cars and saw certain bumper stickers I knew the person was going to have an attitude before even reaching their door. ETA: Have to correct myself. I sometimes paid attention to bumper stickers when I was looking for stolen cars. Like when you see a car full of black teenagers in Brooklyn with this bumper sticker on the back. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v361/Extorris/Temp/Mosiach_zpse918ff18.jpg That sir is profiling. And profiling, though mostly just common sense, is wrong. Please report for sensitivity training. |

Nope, could not give less of a shit about what bumper stickers someone has on their vehicle. And another one.another one what? Another "I don't pay attention to bumper stickers" response. Shitty police work, IMO. |

Cops pulled them over, column is cracked, all four occupants have guns. Owner of the car didn't even know it had been stolen. (Chaminade is an upscale private HS on Long Island.) I don't know why a cop wouldn't take note of the stickers on the back of a car. They can tell you a lot. |

You REALLY should be paying attention to bumper stickers. Not as a reason for the stop, but it give you important clues as to the driver.
In police circles it's called the BSI (bumper sticker index) the more stickers, regardless of topics, the more likely it is that the driver is a loon. Sometimes a VIOLENT loon. Whole back end of the car covered and plastic dinosaurs glued to the hood? Might as well get the Taser ready.

I work in a retail auto parts place, I noticed that we sell way more "Black Ice" fresheners than any other. What's up with that? |

| When my co-worker was a teenager he bought a car for $200 and the back of the car was covered with surfing stickers, including the whole back glass. He got pulled over by a cop for the covered back glass. The cop calls for backup and when his backup gets there he is told "you gotta come over here and see this shit". They both look at the car and start laughing at the car and my co-worker. They made him pull a few stickers off so he could see out the back and let him go. |

There are four things Montanans' love; Liquor, gambling, firearms, and bumper stickers.

I pay attention to everything about a vehicle and occupants. To include stickers. "I love/support the police" stickers (FOP), even FOP commemorative issued plates will always draw my attention. If the driver/occupants don't look like they support the popo, and comes back to an address which has lots of police visits, and certain other observations, it's getting pulled over. Profiling. It works. Not to confuse with racial profiling. Also helps sort out and avoid the the loons, (political ones) as mentioned before. |

Yeah, okay.
