I've been watching the news about Boston all day, why are the cops wearing multi cam, or what ever kind of camo it is?
Is this a standard issue? my Idea for camo would be for the rural cops, but city cops and swat? Not seeing the whole picture I guess |

You want ridiculous, go check out the tac gear forum and try to figure out why all those hardcore badasses need camo that doesn't match the piss-stained carpet in their basements. |

A lot of areas in MA are rural, wooded, and multicam would be very appropriate. In the city I would say OD is a good all around compromise. I am guessing many teams do not have a truckload of color options for the uniform of the day. |

All that shit strapped to their fronts. What do they do if they have to go prone real fast? What's the point of having dozens of overweight geared up cops stand around in groups in the middle of the street? Do they think this kid is going to come barrelling down the road at them? You're witnessing multi-millions of tax-payers dollars go to helping these asshats play "Commandos Strike at Dawn". I was never in the military, but this is a fucking joke. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. |

It is a little absurd, but considering its versatility and considering they're funded by tax payers I'd rather them have one functional set than be able to pick which outfit they want for the day.
Still I even agree with the 13'er, its gone guy, having 250 guys in the middle of the streets with lights flashing for 8 hours is more of a liability both in costs and in risk of danger than it is of any benefit. You'd think they're squaring off against Godzilla on some streets. |

| For LE, uniforms are a quick way to differentiate teammates. All black used to be the standard, but so many people wear black that it can take a split second to differentiate. Either OD green or Multicam are both cheap ways to outfit your guys so that they stand out from those around. It really is pretty simple. What a bunch of girls gossiping about what the other boys wear. Honestly, what makes more sense that Multicam Available off the shelf, joe gangbanger is hardly ever found wearing it, and if you need camo then it is the best available. |
