My parents split when I was in the 2nd grade. We broke all contact with him at that point. I never realized it when I was growing up, but I was just like this kid. I latched onto any male figure that showed me some positive attention. In my adolescence, I was actually closer to my best friends father than he was, although it was just never "right," if that makes sense.
I'd say that I'm a normal, functioning human being. Business owner, husband, etc. I do however wonder what I could have been if I had a father to guide me, teach me things, and generally just teach me how to be a man. I hope this kids mom found a good man and latched on to him for dear life. |

Plenty of people have fathers and they do not have much in common with them. How much "better" is that than not having any dad at all? It pains me a bit to say it, but me and my father are very different. It is just the way it is. I don't hate him or anything for it, but, the fact of the matter is that we do not have much, if anything in common, and that isn't going to change.

That little boy's situation is why our country is so fucked up.
Douche-bags don't think twice about skipping out on their responsibilities and leaving other people to pick up the pieces. Hopefully that little boy found a good father figure to show him how a man is supposed to act. |

This is the first time I've seen it and it most certainly shows the importance of a father to a child. Remember this kid every single time you hear someone downplay the importance of complete, nuclear family. The liberal mindset and the social acceptance of single moms with completely absent fathers has made millions of kids just like this one. |

First time seeing it. I am not going to lie, it made me tear up.
I googled the title of the show and found this. Jenny Jones
November 20, 2013 at 1:01 pm Regarding the “SADDEST BOY EVER” video, I’m sorry to say I have not been able to locate him. I’ve looked at whatever show records I have and cannot find that exact show or any names, and the boy did not go to boot camp since he was too young. I have put out word at every opportunity that if anyone recognizes this family from the video to please contact me through this website, on my facebook page, or my youtube channel. So far no one has claimed to know them or to be them. I, too, would love to know how this little boy is doing today (he would be an adult by now). I do hear from quite a few former guests with updates on their lives but never this family. I’m aware that the video has been seen by millions of people but there is nothing else I can do to find him. I’m still hoping someone will recognize him or his mother and contact me. I would be thrilled if that happens and will certainly share the information if it ever comes. |

Short of death any man who wouldn't be there for his child is a piece of shit in my book. Poor kid that vid fucked me up. First time I have seen it. I hope that Drill instructor was able offer that kid something of himself. That would have been awesome. I suspect that little boy is now a permanent fixture of the DI's thoughts. Hopefully in a good way. |
