I just signed up to take the exam for the LVMPD at the end of the month.

Realistically what are the chances I would be hired by the department? I have a clean criminal record, I am 24, I am fit, and I graduated from a selective university with a degree in business administration.

Any other recommended departments to apply to?

There are a lot of variables including how many people (and their qualifications) are taking the exam, how many vacancies, and if they have hiring quotas, among others.  All you can do is make yourself the better candidate.   The degree certainly helps, the clean criminal record, physically fit, and age are usually expected traits from a candidate.

I would go on a ride along and ask the Officer questions.  Try to get as much information about the process as you can.  Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

You need to do a ride along with them. Ask a ton of questions.   Find out if you are going to have to start out in their jail.

Their jail is a separate position (correction's officer).

They reduced their hiring number from 40 per month to 400 per year.

Sorry I didn't add enough information. I am scheduled to fly out there and take their test in a week or so.  How many people generally apply to positions with the LVMPD and how long will it take to get hired contingent that I do fine on their written and physical tests?

Good luck!  Vegas could always use some more good folks.

I haven't tested myself, but my little bro did, and got offered the PO position.  (He ended up declining, and instead going into International Affairs.  Says he wants to be a diplomat.... but that's another story.
)

Long story short, the entire process from first test, to academy start date can last a few months easily.

You may want to post in the NV HTF specifically, since I know we have a few members on there who are Metro, and a few who've recently tested.

LVMPD is hiring 400 officers a year for like the next 5 years. go to LVMPD.

I will be testing in april. Lmk if you have any questions, I have went through the testing phase once, but my father had cancer, so I had to cancel my testing.
