Someone has come up with a possible fix for the grenade riding in some of your pants. A guy who use to work for SIG has filed a patent with a new safety. It looks like a solid upgrade. Almost a bomb proof safety.  Failed To Load Title |

Patent filed 4/30/24, approved 5/25/25. Only solves for units with manual safety, and only when engaged, only stops trigger bar and sear movement, does nothing to prevent the striker from slipping off the sear. So while it can help, the P320 is still a bad design. |

Maybe the striker can break off and it still fire but unlikely. |

The slide needs to be modified too, right? So the whole gun has to be sent in, not just the grip frame & the FCU. If it locks the sear in the highest position, then it becomes very unlikely for the striker to slip off. Still means it can go off while pointed at a suspect, a burglar, etc. But it does offer private 320 owners some recompense and makes a cheap aftermarket for ex-cop & .mil guns. |
A rough guesstimate is one can expect a UD in 1 of 35,000 guns once every 10 years.

If his patent is the best way to fix or improve the military versions this guy might make bank. If SIG USA cannot come up with a better way to improve those. There are so many out there and the military is so important they might just do it. Or make a few copies and submit them for testing. And just do the trigger block too for good measure. |
