Anyone in here know anything about how to diagnose an electrical problem?

Even better would be someone with experience working on the electrical system of a Land Rover Disco II.

Symptoms:

1.  Cannot use left turn signal, just blinks really fast for a second, and then gives up.  Lights for left turn signal do not work either.  I replaced bulbs, and they are not burnt out.  Right turn signal works fine.

2.  Will die unexpectedly at intersections, randomly even if it is running well (which it does unless it is dying...does not idle rough, or idle too low)

3.  At highway speeds, it will lurch a second, and RPMs will drop, and then the M and S lights will come on (signaling a transmission electrical fault, I looked this one up).

4.  Sometimes it will not start at all, won't even fire a little bit.  If I get in the truck, close the doors, and hit the lock button twice (to lock the doors, and to set the security system), then press the unlock button, it will fire right up.  This leads me to think that the computer is locking my truck out from starting up.

If anyone has any ideas here, please let me know, I'd really appreciate the help.  I am pretty mechanical, but I don't know anything about electrical.  If someone could please help me figure out what I have to do to fix this dilemma, I could really use the help!

I would post your questions here,
http://www.landroversonly.com/

The only portion of your problem I have any insight on is the turn signals, I had lots of corrosion on the contacts in the turn signal sockets on my Disco. Hit it with a wire brush and applied dielctric grease. no issues since. Can't help with the other stuff.

Try to find a Land Rover forum.  They may have more knowledge.

Is a Disco 2 based on a Ford chassis?  IIRC there were a few Land Rover/Fords produced.  I could be wrong.

Land Rovers are notorious for electrical problems.  Some of them can be expensive to find/fix.  You might need to take it to the Dealer or to an Independant shop that specialized in Land Rovers.

Other than that, sounds like a normal running LR

Disco Series II is pre-ford/BMW parts (pretty sure the '04 4.6 is still LR stock, for sure the pre-'04 4.0 is). For tracking down electrical issues, you will need to find a garage that has worked with LR before, and have the testbook so they can run diagnostics on it.
