I have a Vaio Model VGN-C140G that gave me a blue screen of death with a stop code of 0x0000007A. Trying to restart the computer I get the Vaio promt, and then the screen will go black for about a minute and then the computer restarts and will do this cycle until I shut the power down. I can hit F8 during the Vaio screen and it will give me the standard safe mode type options to start however Ive tried every single option numerous times, and it will resart and continue the above cycle. So I cannot get to anything on this computer beside the F8 option will doesnt do anything for me.
I happen to have a brand new WD 320GB hard-drive and a copy of XP Pro. I installed this HD, and put the XP Pro cd in but that does nothing, and after the Vaio screen I get "operating system not found". F8 does nothing. The original OS was XP MCE. The XP Pro CD does not do anything with either HD although the CD light blinks when I put it in, and the drive is sorta spinning but doesnt sound as fast as it normally was before all this started. I know enough to do basic stuff but obviously am out of my league in dealing with this issue by myself. I did do some reading and it appears I need to put the new HD in an external case and hook it up to another machine to get things running there. I really dont even know or think the original HD may be bad but since I had this new 2nd HD here I thought I would give it a try. I know its hard to diagnose a problem over the internet but what other things should I be looking at. The reason I think it may have been the original HD is about 10 seconds before I got the blue screen there was a fast paced clicking noise where the HD sits in the case, and then she went blue. I do not want to take my original HD to a tech because I have a few hundred sensitive pictures I dont want getting into the wrong hands. Id rather suicide that fucker before I let those get out. Anyways should I just put the new HD in and take it somewhere and let them deal with it or could it be something I can fix at home? Obviously Im pretty naive in this stuff! Thanks for any help! |
