Is a fake...he has no accent, he speaks without an accent at all.  Noticed when he was scared doing donuts in a mustang on "only in America".

Not that I care, he's making money!  I just thought he was a southern boy.

Who would have guessed, an actor acting like an idiot playing up stereotypes of southerners? Color me surprised.

And not very well at that. Yankees with southern accents easily fool other yankees, but to a southerner it sounds like some sort of bastardised jibberish. It's painful to listen to.

Some of that guys biggest fans are people below the Mason/Dixon.

The southerners that don't like him are the ones that hate the stereotype.

I've always thought his accent was a bit off...but did not know he was a Yankee...I'm a .mil brat, so I grew up all over...so I can acquire the local accent fairly easily.

For the record, he's a damn good guy.

He owned a restaurant/sports bar with a bunch of former Husker athletes, I worked there for the majority of the time it was open.  He was always a pleasant, polite, and open guy.  Everybody obviously knew him, he never ate a meal in peace, and he took it all in stride.  Humble guy too.

I'm not a huge fan of his act, but I never heard anybody say anything negative about him.

Not saying he's a bad guy, hell he's making the bucks!  I just though he was a southern guy, but turns out he's not.

He was here in Sanford, FL in the 80's, I think this is where he worked up the Larry the Cable guy act. He used to call in to the Baxter and Mark show on WDIZ with the Cable guy act. Eventually I think he got a gig as part of the morning show.

I'm thinking more of people like peewee herman, where they stayed in character in interviews, etc.  it just seems so strange to me.  don't they realize we know they arent their character?
