I just got a box in from Amazon yesterday, and owe AR15.com credit for half of it:
Facing Violence: Preparing for the Unexpected, by Rory Miller was recommended in the outstanding Street Robberies and you - The Basics thread. I started this one right away and the book is every bit as enlightening and experience-laden as the OP of that thread. Highly recommended. The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes - And Why, by Amanda Ripley was recommended several times in the Survival Is A Matter Of Seconds thread a couple of weeks ago. From a quick read of the back cover and introduction, this seems to be right in the same vein as the article I posted in the thread, and I'm looking forward to it. Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, by Robert B. Cialdini, PhD is one I believe I found on my own. It's about persuasion, how to do it well, how to recognize it when others are doing it and how to resist their efforts. Last but not least El Narco: Inside Mexico's Criminal Insurgency, by Ioan Grillo was mentioned in a couple of online articles about recent violent events in Mexico. |
