I was going through a Company web site, checking thier  jobs posting and the company mentioned that they refered to the Lautenberg Amendment  when screening canidates. The position is for Security Officers. Is this amendment a federal law or just regional, task specific? Is this something that is checked when applying for a CCW? Thanks

It's about owning firearms and being convicted of a domestic violence charge. Federal law and it was retroactive. Meaning that if you ever got convicted of anything concerning domestic related violence, you lose your gun rights.

Bad law and the only one that is retro.

We had to sign a Lautenburg before they would issue us weapons at the range during drill. I would imagine that all Guard units have to do this.

So that must make it hard for soldiers (marines, airmen, ect...) to continue on in the military if they get a conviction.

IT's a Federal law and yes it can cut a soldier or LEO's ability to do his job.
