A friend of mine got into St. Johns Law school and NYU law, but she doesnt know where to go. She's kind of a sheep, so gun laws are not a concern, she just wants the best school. Obviously she can't get both- so what says arfcom? |
it's ok, i've taken her shooting so she's pro-gun, just not pro- her owning guns. she has no problem with OUR gun rights |

Where does she want to practice? NYU is a better school, but it is also the most expensive school (with living expenses added in) there is, or at least it was in 2000 when I was admitted and got all of their budget paperwork. I believe the budget was estimated at 50K+ per year. If you go to a school like NYU, you will likely incur 100k or more of debt, and will be forced to work for a wall street sweatshop for your first 2 years or so. And I mean 60 hour weeks with full days on Saturday and half days on Sunday, every week. Pulling all-nighters is also very common at these firms. Tell her to think carefully. You can go to a 2nd tier lawschool and make law review and be very competitive in the market. Does she have other options? The one thing you HAVE to be certain of when you attend lawschool is that you want to be a lawyer, otherwise you will be absolutely miserable. Too many people enter lawschool because they don't know what else to do. PS, I didn't end up going to NYU, but went to UVA instead because I had decided that I wanted to pratice in the South. |
UVA Law sucks!!!!!! Just joking, I went there. Class of 99. NYU is a great school and she would always be able to look back on graduating from NYU with pride. |
