Put a pressure fitting on a copper line for my refrigerator when we moved into this house in January.

Noticed some wet spots on the downstairs ceiling and determined it was this pressure fitting that was leaking.

Is it most likely that I don't have it tight enough?  Or is there something else I can do to make certain it doesn't leak?

I have no experience with fittings specifically on refridgerators, however pressure fittings on machinery it's possible to over tighten; causing leaks. So your problem could be it's too tight, or too loose. Usually when I install pressure fittings I finger tighten as far as I can(make sure you're not cross threading) than tighten 1/4 to 1/2 a turn with your wrench (sometimes a full turn is needed but be carful). Also just to mention Teflon tape/thread sealer is not needed if you happen to be using it, since that also could cause leaks.

I will most likely be a compression fitting.

You can try tightening it, about a 1/4 turn max.

If that doesn't solve the issue you will need to cut back the copper line and replace the coupling nut and compression ring with new.

They are sold at your local hardware store.
