I kind of expected a sticky about this but maybe I am the only numb nuts that gets on his gun forum to ask questions about learning to fly I would like someone to educate me on the approximate time involved in learning and the money that would be spent in order to learn to fly. Also, what is a plane that a beginner would buy (or alternate types of ownership since I know you can buy fractional ownership or rent), what's the flying radius, how many people would it hold, what are the costs other than buying the plane and fuel that should be taken into consideration before purchasing a plane, etc. At this point I am less than a laymen and I am trying to learn enough so that I know the questions to ask and where to find the answers. Thanks in advance. In case you care, the reason I am asking is because my wife loves to travel and I think that it would be fun to tie in a hobby for myself (maybe two since bringing my guns would be a bit easier |

I'm just getting started in the private pilot process...so I'll leave your questions to those more experienced.
I will offer one piece of advice that helped me: www.google.com > search for becoming a private pilot and any derivatives > read EVERYTHING you can about it! Doing this in addition to asking questions here (like you have) have helped me loads. |

I agree; this should be a sticky. There was a fairly recent thread on this:
