I have been having pain in my left lower calf.  Almost at the base where the tendon and muscle meet.  It bothers me a little when I start running, then it goes away, then it really is the most noticable an hour after the run.  Through the day I will sometimes notice it and at night if fells like a growing pains.  I usually run 2 miles every other day but recently started doing sprints and stairs one day a week.  My shoes are new balance 507.  I have been using new balance for serval years with no problem.  These specific shoes I have had since December and used them on the treadmill mostly until recently when the weather warmed up.  Since then I have been running on pavement like usual, when it is not super cold and windy.

This pain has been bothering me for approximately 2 to 3 weeks.  I am wondering if it is the shoes or the sprints and stairs.  I hate not running so I have not taken any extra days off like I probably should.  One other thing now that I think about it is sometimes my feet tingle which makes me think it is the shoes.

Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT:  I believe it is tendinitis from my recent addition of the stairs.

I had the same problem when I first started training with skipping rope.

What worked for me:
Giving my calves a day off between training.
Applying pain relief creme (some cheap safeway brand) frequently.
LOTS of calf stretches, throughout the day.
Rubbing the sore areas in a hot shower when I got home.

I was told that if I kept at it my calves would adjust. Fortunately they did, but I don't know if they would have had I not taken such action on my own. Good luck.
