Location Oregon
I was at a friends and me and him were doing some target practicing. Well a neighbor threatened to call the cops claiming it was a public nuisance. Here are the details, my friend has 5 acres of woods. The target practicing was off the back porch. The target was a hillside. So no chance of the bullet hitting anybody. Plus if somehow the bullet  could get through a hill there was hundreds of acres of farmland with no houses past it. Its a semi-rural area. Large farms all around but there just happens to be a cluster of houses nearby with just a few acres each.

Where I live the properties is similar, exept the neighbors shoot for hours, all the time and here no one complains. Seems to me like my friend is unlucky when it comes to neighbors. Still I am curious about the whole legal aspect of all of this.
Any advice on what the laws are?

AFAIK  The worst that could happen is the law could show up and ask you to quit disturbing the neighbors

In WV, you must be 500 ft or something from a dwelling to shoot (according to written law), but that is by and large overlooked as long as noone's doing any complainin'
