Just about everytime I have let someone borrow something it has turned out bad.
People need to just man up and buy their own shit. An extended family member just called to borrow something and I turned them down. The person in question lives in a more expensive house, drive new cars, but he can't afford to buy his own piece of gear. Not my problem, and I hate fucking being put in the position where I have to turn someone down. |

It's a test of your choices. Sounds like you're failing. I don't have problems loaning stuff out, because I try very hard to surround myself with trustworthy and decent friends. When someone violates that, or I can see they're not worth loaning stuff to, they kind of lose their appeal to hang around and if they're not around? They don't ask for your shit. |

If I value it at all, it stays with me. |

I got laid off from my police department in march. I loaned out a TON of stuff before but now that im temporarilary in real estate I have pretty much loaned out ALL of my cool cop gear. Cameras, shoulder mics, window tint meters, dope test kits, gear bags, rain coats, firearms parts and accessories, window punches, magazines, ect. and i have received all of that stuff back in the same condition that it was loaned in.
Hell, i was mailing a mini digital camera around the country for Arfcom cops to try and they all took good care of it. I think you just have shit friends. |
| I have had good and bad luck with lending stuff. On the other hand if i borrow something from someone, I return it in better shape than I received it. Example- I needed a paint sprayer, I knew one of my buddies had one from when he built his house. I picked it up and it was covered in paint, dirt, and it looked lit it had not been used in years. 2 weeks later I returned it, clean, all the old paint was gone, it was lubed and had a new hose. It also came back with a couple of extensions and new nozzle. He asked if i wanted to borrow his car next. LOL |

You can loan out your wife, but never loan out your chainsaw. Your wife will come back bright eyed and bushytailed, ready for another year. Your chainsaw will never run again. Never lend either one, both are subject to having a rod thrown in em. Danny Lend out the wife.............Okay. The dog, chainsaw, or fishing gear, NEVER! |
