My sons laptop (after his sister screwed with it) powers up to the Lenovo screen.  After about 15 seconds, the Lenovo goes away and the computer shuts down.  Then it comes back on and repeats the process.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

We took the battery out for a few minutes.

Thanks

Can you stop it during the boot process to get to the bios? Are there any usb memory sticks plugged in? How old is the hard drive and does he have a back up?

I believe lenovo's do not have memory tests in bios and you need to make a cd to boot too so you can run diagnostics. Maybe she dropped it and ram unseated. if this passes than hard drive failure or she wiped the hard drive. Before going on the internet and finding bootable diagnostics i would hit esc and every function key F1,F2,etc.. on the boot cycle and see what you get there might be onboard diagnostics. actually just read this https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht035517

Should have a tiny little recovery button to hit somewhere. Onekey recovery.

Bought it new in February.  Nothing plugged in.  F12 is not doing anything.  I doubt it has a back up.
