We had 2 at TGI when I worked there. Meh. Functioned fine. Accuracy wasn't so hot.

I shot the 308 version and it was sexy. Never shot the 54R

We had the x54R version.
The Post May DP-28 was much more fun.

I wish they were widely available here. They are sexy rifles.

Cant really speak for their accuracy, other than I've heard it's a 2MOA gun.

I want one bad but they are out of my price range. So I built a vepr to look like one.

Satisfies the itch, esp. with the POSP 4x24. Ive shot a SVT-40 and liked it, but I've never shot a Dragunov. Maybe someday I'll pony up for a NDM-86.
Oh, and @TX-Zen

I sold my FPK. Neat gun but I do not miss it

I've shot a .308 one.

They're good ones, but they're not particularly impressive to me. I'd prefer a 14.5" AR with a 1.5-6 Elcan for the role the SVD is intended for.

I was hoping Kalashnikov America would make one for the US market, but nothing so far.

There was talk of a US clone but nothing ever materialized.

I shot at the 1000 yard range next to a guy shooting the Tiger and some ammo marked 1954, wrapped in paper with a ribbon around it.  He wasn't hitting the 10" rounds as much as I was with my TRG-42, but with that shitty PSO-1 (?) he was thumping it every 4-5 shots.

I was impressed.

They are good for what they are. Decently (but not spectacularly) accurate if you shoot good ammo through em. A lot lighter than comparable rifles.

Most people that shit talk them have a) never fired one, b) aren't precision shooters, c) shot 50 year old dogshit ammo out of them, etc etc. d) have absurdly unrealistic expectations about them.

The same can be said for the PSL...
