Thank you for contacting me to express your support for Representative Virgil Goode’s letter to the White House regarding the withdrawal of the Solicitor General’s brief in the D.C. gun ban case.  I appreciate you taking the time to voice your thoughts to me on this issue.

As we move through the 110th Congress, it is very important for me to know the views of my constituents, and your letter has certainly helped in that regard.  There is no doubt that this is a pivotal time in our nation's history as the threats to our nation and our way of life are continually changing.  The issues that Congress discusses affect all Americans and the decisions made will impact us and our children for generations to come.  Like you, I strongly believe in the Second Amendment and uphold the right for all American citizens to bear arms.  You should be pleased to know that I have not only co-signed Representative Virgil Goode’s letter to the White House, but I have also co-sponsored H.R. 1399, District of Columbia Personal Protection At, to repeal the D.C. gun ban.  Furthermore, I have also signed on as a member an amicus brief to the Supreme Court regarding the District of Columbia verses Dick Heller, which argues for the Second Amendment and guarantees an individual the right to keep and bear arms.  Rest assured that I will keep your concerns in mind as this issue continues to be addressed in the House of Representatives.

Again, thank you for taking the time to voice your opinion.  Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have further concerns regarding any issues under consideration in Congress.

Best Wishes,

Representative J. Gresham Barrett

Well then....now I know at least two incumbents who are getting my vote. The other is DeMint (R-SC).

It can't be said enough. Even when you "know" your representatives and senators are on your side, let the know how you feel on an issue. Encourage them.
