The majority of my family, especially on my Mothers side are extremely liberal. I hold back my urge to bash their arguments into dust for fear that I will be ostracized. This is a youtube vid that my cousin posted, she made the comment "Did the rich earn what they have or should we be framing this as a taking and siphoning.

You know, this shit's not exactly a secret.
Sanders' Campaign Fundraising, with top sources. So go ahead, Bernie. Call us a banana republic if you want, but when you get six mil at the drop of a hat from government-enshrined labor unions, it all rings a little hollow, hmm? I also like how the government "gives" out tax breaks. As if the proper perspective is that it's all the government's money to begin with and they're kind for letting you keep any of it at all. 
The simple truth is that you cannot discourage poverty by penalizing success. ETA: Oh yeah, and all the shit he lists @ 10:45 isn't the responsibility of the federal government, yet we're spending money on it anyhow. Why does the federal government spend money on public education? I'll tell you why: Control. The fed makes up only around 4-6% of the average school's budget, yet for that money they get to dictate what gets taught and how programs get run. We're spending 6 weeks or more on testing to qualify for federal grant money. It wastes 15% of the school year in order to get 4% of the budget. It doesn't even fucking pay for itself. But school boards and administrators will do it and take the money because the extra 4% usually goes to pet projects, friends/relatives and additional personnel, plus benefits and incentive packages for everyone in school systems that don't actually teach. If you want to fix the educational system in this country, the first step is to get the federal government out of it. It would also save the American taxpayer about 50 billion a year and we'd get better schools while we're at it. How nobody can see this is beyond logical comprehension. |
| I will be severely outnumbered. I do get my comments in here and there. The last thing I want is to fall into their preconceived mold of a bible thumpin', gun lovin', rightwinger, even though I am. If they see me like this they will just ignore my comments as typical and I'll never be able to get through to them. I think I have a good chance on saving my brother from the gilded lily of liberalism. |

A typical liberal tactic when proven wrong or illogical is to change the subject with '...but what about...' don't fall into the defensive position and don't let them change the subject. point out what they are doing and why, i.e. losing the argument and changing the subject good luck it's a tough position, but I think most have been in it at one time or another |

Your on the right path, but your aim is still a bit off. Your never truly winning against a Liberal unless you get them to start shouting. Develop a goal, and a plan of attack, and start reading. The classic liberal attack is to grab a piece of distorted video and display to everyone how "enlightened" they are, and evil you are. Don't fall for it though, its only smoke and mirrors. The reason most of them do the video clip attack method is because theyh can't handle themselves in a sit down and brawl discussion. Read, watch, listen, and study. Know what your liberal family hates, and push the envelop on that. Pick a subject that your strong and well versed in, and go from there. Things like Firearms and Abortion are always a good strong winner. Show them your prepared to compromise on some issues, and you can get them to take a less offensive role. After that offensive posture they had is down, go for the kill, push the magic button with supporting evidence. Be strong, forceful, and sure of yourself. Remember to raise your voice, but don't shout, yell. or name call. It gives them ammunition. Always remember, once you get them to shout, or catch them in a circular argument, call them on it. Its like beating some ass, really. Keep them off balance, taking one hit after another. Every comment you make will anger them a little more, eventually getting them to take off their "thinking cap", and they'll give you the outburst you desire. |

Ask them if somebody else in need is entitled to their money, and point out that they are NOT permitted to define or question somebody else's assessment of "in need", but they are required to respect it. And too many 'isms' will turn off the people you're talking to. I only pull out labels after an extensive exploration of the definition. |
