Great for red light cameras. There are cheaper ways - Maryland Students Use Speed Cameras for Revenge It's called "license plate cloning." Google "fake license plate maker" and you'll find all sorts of interesting ways of giving red light/speed camera tickets to people you don't like. |
| I was thinking about something similar awhile back. I was at a big match, and someone asked to take a picture of my Gadsden Flag spare tire cover. I didn't mind, but I threw a towel over my license plate, OPSEC and all. So I started thinking... you only have to have a plate displayed while driving on a public road, right? I see cops trolling parking lots checking plates all the time... I wouldn't mind a device that covered the plate when it wasn't legally necessary. |

If it is covered and they cannot see it, it will be fined. Only time you can have it removed, covered, or replaced with fake plates is on your own property. |

In NY they've got this great thing called an "enhanced drivers liscence". It's for people up here that go to Canada and don't want a passport, this liscence works as a passport for crossing the Canadian border. They've got RFIDs in them. Had a friend that went to Canada with his family. The border patrol knew the ID of everyone in the car as they approached. Kinda scary stuff. Theyve got a special sleeve you keep the liscence in so people don't steal your info. |

That's a general description, does not state specifics about parking, but subdivision 1 states (i'll copy and snip it) "No person shall operate, drive, or park a motor vehicle on any highway " So, I'm assuming that the law only applies to state highways... I'm sure every county has different ordiances, and would need to look into that for specifics on displaying plates while parked on county property. I am not sure if streets in downtown applies to state law or county ordiances. I would guess it depends on if that street is part of a state highway that goes through the town. I know some people that have gotten ticketed for parking on the streets without a plate, the county told them if its not going to be plated, it has to be parked on their property. But I heard that it has changed over the year that now there are more specifics that I do not know for my county. But as that ticket came from the county, so like I said each county has their own specific ordiances. |
