What a steaming pile of fail this show is.
I think it's a liberal stroke fest where they can look gleefully at images of man's artifice crumbling and returning to the earth mother.

I think you are looking for Democrats hiding in your laundry hamper I only saw a few minutes of the TV show, maybe it's different |

I think it's a great show, and has absolutely nothing to do with liberalism. It simply shows what would happen to all of our great cities if a pandemic were to kill off civilization. Sometimes instead of looking for the conspiracy, you need to just sit back, relax and remember that it's just a show....really |

But I watched a couple episodes and I couldn't help but notice a liberal slant to it. I think that "I Am Legend" started it to be honest. Seriously, who doesn't think that the earth will reclaim land we built cities on?
I did enjoy the one part with the abandoned coal mine off the coast of Japan, that was cool. |
| If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it...does it still make a noise?...I really didn't care for the movie but "I am Legend" seemed to give a fair depication of what Manhatten would look like post L.A.P. except for the human eating creatures....decay, palnt life taking over, weeds, etc..go into sections of Detroit...hence L.A.P. |

There was a show on History preceeding "L.A.P." last night about post economic collapse Ammerica. I swear I saw Michael Bane (Shooting Gallery/Best Defense) on it ? Anyone else see him ? Was he wearing his......earrings?
Yep. "Surviving Armageddon". There's a thread about it that actually inspired this one. |

It's not too bad, but I've seen another similar show (again, HC) predicting the ten most likely apocalyptic scenarios. Number 1 was––you guessed––global 'climate change'. They gave several minutes of talk time to Al Gore, while the oppositions consisted of sound bites from Fox News. So, whether or not "Life After People" manifests the liberal bias at the History Channel, it's there. |

Disagree, it's a great show. IMO, the real story is how much work it takes to keep nature at bay. My ivy grows about 2 feet a month in the summer. Without the brutal beat down I give it with the Echo, I could easily see it being a major player in the eventual demise of my house. It may indeed be the dream of a crazy enviro, but that's not its goal. |

LOL. I had lunch with him a couple years ago when the NRA convention was in Pittsburgh. One heck of a nice guy and we had a good conversation. He does act the same in real life as on TV, just has some different mannerisms about him. |
I dont see how it has anything to do with a liberal agenda or line of thought. Maybe I am just not seeing it. It seems to be a show about plant and animal life after no people. It never said anything about Govt healthcare, a stimulus package, gun control or anything of the like.

There is some point where there would not be enough people of the proper skills and education to keep out infrastructure going. Things like electricity and running water would be one of the first things to disappear. The cities would very, very quickly become uninhabitable and full of starving people who are incapable of surviving. Civilization as we know it would crumble very quickly after a certain point. Do a little research on the Spanish Flu epidemic. It spread and killed very quickly. Without planes loads of diseased people spreading it around too. Part of the reason there is so much hysteria about the H1N1 strain. Same strain as the Spanish Flu. It takes time to develop a vaccine. In a true pandemic there probably will not be time. |
|
I guess my point is, this would make a great one-off show. Or even short 5 part miniseries.
But they've made 2 seasons' worth now! How much of man's crumbling work do we need/want to see? Big deal, OK bridges will fall. Buildings too. The overwrought "Man's voice might last another 40 years after man leaves thanks to parrots..." sidebar was just silly... |

I read "The Great Influenza" and greatly enjoyed it - I know about the Spanish Flu. |

| Watched an episode for the first time a few nights with my dad. All I could think, was, "Who gives a shit? There are no people around to care." Fucking assinine program, just trying to get us all on a guilt trip. Oh, what could I have done to change this from happening. Seriously, why would it matter if mankind were all dead? |

Quoted: If only a small percentage of people survived a plague (or whatever) the book would still be pretty accurate. They would be too busy trying to survive to worry about preventing the Manhattan subways from flooding or fixing millions of miles of roads and bridges.Quoted: There is some point where there would not be enough people of the proper skills and education to keep out infrastructure going. You guys do realize that this so called "new" show is just a rehash of a 2 or 3 hour special they had on a while back? I'm sure they've added a little more footage here and there but it's still a rehash passed off as new. I know this because I watched the whole thing the first time around ... unfortunately. |

| This is a very cheap show to make. It is a lot of CGI, a little scripting, and some narration. The CGI is especially easy to do, since inanimate objects are easy to to CGI (i.e. bridges, buildings, etc.) vs. trying to realistically animate the movements of people and animals. |
