Whats wrong with changing lifters without changing the cam. This is on a 80' Ford 302 (5.0) |
|
It can be done. The problem you will see is premature wear of the new lifters (I'm assuming you have the original cam and lifters). The cam and lifters wear-in together as a set. Racers will make changes and re-use lifters or vice-versa, but they are not building for constant street use. What problem are you trying to remedy? |
+1 Replace the cam bearings as well. If it's all back together and in the car and it's running okay, then don't worry about it. Just realize that the lifters will wear faster than if you had replaced the cam and lifters as a set. |
