Lately I've been getting headaches when doing my upper body routine. I'll be doing a set of presses or pullups and at around 10 reps when I start to get winded I get an overwhelming migrane that doesn't seem to fade. Googled it and turned up that it might be related to blood sugar. I've tried hydrating more but that doesn't seem to help. Is this something that just happens? I'll probably end up checking it out with a doc, but I don't know if it's common or not. |

Sometimes I also got debilitating headaches when I lifted heavy. Turned out that I clenched my teeth as I lifted and that is how I got the headache, which lasted several hours. Technically, no one can get a headache since the brain does not have nerve endings. Usually, the “headache” originates as sinus pressure or tooth/jaw infection or alignment problems. To solve my problem, I have to remain cognizant that I do not clench my jaw when I lift. |

It might be related to high blood pressure. If you hold your breath, that will cause your blood pressure to go through the roof. Make sure you're breathing while lifting. Also, I found that drinking extra water and taking an aspirin to thin your blood really helps me not get headaches since it noticeably reduces my blood pressure even before I start lifting. My face doesn't turn nearly as red when I do that. Go to www.deja.com/ and do a search for "headache group:misc.fitness.weights". You'll find almost a thousand threads that talk about headaches while lifting weights or other exercise.z |
Go see a Dr. get a cardio stress test... you could have blockage, and it can kill you. Work on your breathing... try to eliminate fatty acids from your diet. |
