| We just replaced small GU-10 halogen lights with LEDs––––-Ecosmart brand from Home Depot––––-due to insane heat output. But they're in a room with a motion sensor switch and they're fine as long as it's set to *on.* But when it's set to *auto* they all flicker. Are we stuck with either heat/flickering or is there another solution? |

New motion sensor not sure that will work even you may need to get a lamp that you can use with a dimmer. link to lights |

Congrats you saved $0.14 on your electric bill this month while securing 10 jobs in china. If they last 15 years you may come out even. What company still makes halogen GU-10 bulbs in America? I'll give you a hint, NONE (that I can find anyway.) After looking i can't say i have used a bulb with that socket. I'd be thinking starter seeing it. I'm just over all the shit about saving the world and money while marketing inferior bulbs that are as green as me pouring oil next to the shed. Seen a box the other day sent "free" by the power company. Save $66 by installing this 13 watt cfl. In small print it is $66 over an average of 12 years and 12,000 hours. Well that is great and all but i could get the same amount of light with a candle. Even the 30w cfls aren't as bright as the 100w it is meant to replace. Worst part is they last about as long as a regular incandescent . I've only seen a few led bulbs so far but they made cfl bulbs look great. It's one thing to replace a 50 cent incandescent with a cfl that goes out in a year with nice little burn marks on the inside but it's another to spend 5 on a led that gradually goes to shit in a couple weeks and made a cfl look bright from the start. |

Now I never said LEDs and compact florescent bulbs don't suck, they usually do. just that there are no American made options for that bulb type.

TuI put the halogen back into the first fixture off the sensor/switch and all is well.
For the record...the main reason I went with LED over halogen was the radiant heat issue. Two of the fixtures are mounted in a soffit over the washer and dryer which are on a raised platform so heat from them was the main issue for switching bulbs. Secondly, the halogens are $7 each with a 2000 hr life and the LEDs are $20 with a 25,000 hr life and both are equal in lumens. I figure I am ahead on bulb cost way before energy usage. YMMV Wes |

Stop buying shitty light bulbs. |
