Okay, so I signed up for Linkedin network, only because some former students of mine wanted me to (I don't even really know what it is about--I assume some sort of Facebook for industry).

I just got an e-mail, asking me to connect with someone I have never heard of.  He is listed as a Detective in the City of Poplar Bluff (assume Mo).  In this case, "connect" does not have a homosexual connotation. I know where you perverts minds would instantly go.

Never been to Poplar Bluff, don't know the person's name.  Could this be some scam? Or should I hide my dag (or my cats in my case)?

You could just message him and ask why he's trying to connect? It's a networking website and surprisingly, people use it to network.

LinkedIn will, if you let it,  suggest connections with people whose e-mail addresses are in your address book and theirs.

It's up to you how you want to handle connections:  connecting to J Random Strangers, or only people you know in the real world, or anything in between.

Assuming you have nothing to hide, the detective may be looking for somebody with the same name.

BTW, there is an ARFCOM linked in group, if you are interested.

Mmm, doubt it is someone with same name (as my name is not very common--last name that is).

Just wanted to make sure this isn't some scam set-up.

As far as ARFCOM linked in, that is what GD is for!
