Just installed Mint 12 on my Dell D630 because 11 kept losing the wi-fi connection.  I'm liking 12 a lot better, and it's a lot more stable, but whenever the screen times out, it won't come back to full brightness, stays too dim to read.  I've tried every place I can find, but can't find a way to fix this.  Suggestions please?

Thanks,

Michael

Not to Hi-jack but how do you like Mint over Ubuntu?

With The new Ubuntu desktop I'm thinking about switching to something else

I switched to Mint from Ubuntu back at Mint 10.  Mint had all the little crap I kept downloading to get Ubuntu like I wanted it.  I'm not so sure about 12 yet.  11 sucked, at least on my Dell.

Mint runs on my P4 at work, where Ubuntu drags ass.

Hopefully I'll have time to take a look when I'm there tomorrow.

Are you running the packages for your specific video board?  If it's nVidia, download the management software.

I've never run Mint, but it's got to be something with the screensaver, power settings or the video modules.  Also, be sure to check for any updates that are available.

Click on Control Center, then click on Screensaver.  Click on Power Management button at bottom of window.

Look under the AC Power and Battery tabs, and see if the "Dim display when idle" box is checked.  If so, uncheck, and see if the problem continues to occur.

If checked, for whatever reason, it's not refreshing when you come back out of idle state.  Might be peculiar to your hardware, or might be an upstream issue.

Unchecked, and set to turn off Never.
