Been playing with Ubuntu and like it a lot.  Looking for a video editor for messing with home movies - I have been using Ulead VideoStudio on Windows and am looking for something similar.  Mainly just need to edit/save avi and mpg files, render for DVD, etc.  I dont mind buying a commercial product if needed.

Any particular products that you use and like?  I just got Kino and have played with it very briefly, dont know if I like it yet.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I do want to follow this thread to see where it goes. I am using Ubuntu on two of my computers and am having great experiences with it. I have not begun tackling video editing with linux applications as of yet, just have not got around to it. I am curious, have you posted this question to the Ubuntu forums yet? I am certain the gurus over there will be able to fire back a quick reply to this question. If you do find something cool, do you mind posting it here for me?

Haven't had time to check the forums yet.  Kino and Cinelerra seem to be the two most common ones.  If I run across something I will let you know.
