Since I was a kid growing up in Florida, we've had several new species of reptile become rather common around here.

Iguana's actually became something of an epidemic until we had several nights of freezing weather 2 winters ago, which proved very helpful in thinning their populations.

Various species of snake, including huge constrictors now inhabit the Everglades and surrounding areas. I'm not sure what those previous freezes did to them, but it couldn't have helped them any.

The photos below are of a species of lizard I'm unfamiliar with. I first saw one of these in a tree at my parents house about a year ago. I'd guess that they're at least a foot long. It's definitely not an iguana. The photos below are of a different lizard of the same species at my place 2 towns north of my parents, so there's got to be a breeding population. I have seen the guy below eating other, smaller species of common lizards....actually snapped a few photos on my iPhone with 3/4 of one hanging out of its mouth, kicking like a son of a bitch.

Anyone know what this guy actually is? Definitely a relative new comer to Florida, I'm curious where they come from.

Green anole?

I'm originally from Key West Florida and have lived in Melbourne Florida and I have seen very similar/possibly the same type of lizards to the one you posted.  I have not been to Key West but once since 1989 though haven't lived in Melbourne for about 10 years.

Hmmm, then I have no clue what it is.

Green anole?

Way too large to be an anole. This thing is 10x the size of one of those.

Plus the green anole's don't have the additional coloring these guys do.

Cuban Knight Anole it is, thanks fellas.
Just for scale, these are significantly larger than the common anoles and lizards typically seen around South Florida.
The one pictured above from my yard would be noticeably larger than the photo below stuck to this guys shirt I found on Google...
