Police: Shrewsbury man raped 11-year-old girl Daily Record/Sunday News Posted: 05/22/2009 12:25:40 PM EDT After being confronted with allegations of raping an 11-year-old girl, a Shrewsbury man told investigators he could have had sex with the victim but didn't remember exactly when, according to police. Now, Nabil Al-Emad, 40, of the first block of East Forrest Avenue, is charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault. Al-Emad is being held at York County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail set by York County District Justice Walter Reamer. Police say Al-Emad sexually assaulted a girl he knew. The sexual abuse came to light after the child told a fellow student and her teacher in January, according to court records. When questioned by Southern York County Regional Police Detective William Shafer in April, Al-Emad admitted to inappropriate contact with the girl when they would play wrestle, according to court records. He said he "could have" had sex with the girl, but he did not remember exactly when, according to police. His preliminary hearing is set for June 17. |
