According to Memphis Police, around 11 p.m. Thursday the suspect placed a bogus pizza order with Papa John's. When asked for a delivery location, he gave them an address in the 6900 block of Snyder, which turned out to be an abandoned house.
When the delivery driver showed up, the suspect approached him and told the driver to "Drop it." Instead the driver pulled out his gun and shot the robber three times. ... The delivery driver was not hurt in the incident and does have a permit for his gun. This happened within half a block of a police substation. Another reason why, even while next door, the police can't protect you. Personal protection is your duty... Now I just hope he's not fired for carrying on the job. |

We had a substation at the local mall for years and still have one on the other side of the county from our main office. Neither was or is manned on a regular basis. Its just a place to meet people and a space for officers todo paperwork without going back to the main office. Some people don't understand why they have to wait for us to return to our main building when they come in to talk to someone. They don't understand that we don't sit around our office. |

Good point, and it was late. Still though, if the pizza guy didn't take action, he could have been dead in front of that house right now even if a few guys where on duty and right there. I guess that was more my point not that you all are sitting around not doing anything waiting.
