I was cleaning out my grandfathers house and buried deep was what appears to be a fifty dollar bill. What is it? Time period? Real? Fake? Thanks for any input. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/AAB84063-B43E-4886-A4DD-2C576651F809_zpslcca14on.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/7AEFC75E-050C-4615-B30B-C95BC92CD3D6_zpsmz2fixt8.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/898EE93E-DDB3-4856-939C-2E1AA806DE91_zpsm6hfitsf.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/5AE41880-E6B0-4C79-9B9C-22B6C0A45194_zpsy2cpj7dj.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/29869AE7-6D05-486E-AF7A-C89585C9B931_zpsrjntkkeb.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/00482C68-17B4-4965-A089-BF313737ED8E_zpsw3yxdcjn.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h36/D-RAS03/98FC9026-72C3-4BCB-AB28-0135DB801EEB_zps6bejzfuc.jpg There are experts that can tell you for free, In fact they'd LOVE to see and may even buy it off you. I can't believe how many people still use fax machines. I had to upload a PDF to a program to send it as a fax. Cool to find this thread afterwards.... |

I got a shift load of rebel money. Pretty common in the south. Not very valuable unless you have a rare bill. I'm not a expert, just a guy that has seen alot of confederate money Dad's oldest sister (born Jan 1 1900) got the trunk containing the family fortune when grandma and grandpa died. Problem was the family fortune was converted to Confederate cash and bonds during the war. When I was a kid she would let us look at it but never allowed anyone to take any of the bills. It was absolutely worthless in the 1950s and '60s. Wonder if there is any value to it by now? Since she passed away back in the '70s I don't know who got possession of that trunk. Probably a cousin who's selling old Confederate bonds and bills on eBay, I suppose. |

google quickdraw there... |
| I remember getting those reproduction Confederate banknotes in boxes of Cheerios (or was it Rice Crispies?) when I was in the 6th grade (1954-55). The front of the bills are exact copies of the originals, but the backs are different from the originals, although similar. A lot of the kids in school had them. I haven't seen one since then. |
