I had this posted in the urban commando forum but didn't get any helpful information there so I'll try GD.
![]() I normally use CloneDVD mobile to convert DVDs into DIVX files and then follow up with something like Nandub or Virtualdub to split episodes into separate files but there is one slight problem, I can not reencode files already created with ease. What I am looking for is a software that can reencode a batch of divx files into a smaller video format similar to what Cdex can do with MP3s. Just set your encode options, select the folder the files are in and tell it to select all files. I need this ability because I would like to convert some dvds into a divx format that can be watched on a TV and then when needed reencode these files into a size that will fit onto my PDA. With my current method I would need to rip using CloneDVD twice(once for the TV format and another time for the PDA format) and then slit that one large divx file into smaller ones which have only 1 episdoe and no opening/ending sequences, which only becomes more a pain in the ass when they have a prologue then the opening, then the main part Any suggestions on FREE software that can do what I'm looking for? |
I tried using that Divx Plus converter. While the gui is very simple (just drag and drop the files you want to convert and then select the convert mode, and where to put the out put files then press the start button) the program takes FOREVER to convert from a 720x480 sized file into a 320x240 file. It took over 4 hours to convert 13 hours of video. I could have done a DIVX rip directly from the DVDs(stored as ISOs on my hard drive) into 320x240 in less time.![]() That software is completely worthless. |

I am not following exactly what you want, but would www.any-video-converter.com do what you are looking for? I use it to change DIVX files for my iPhone and other stuff. Also, can't you change your settings in DVD Decrypter to output to a file instead of IFO, then convert? |

What I'm trying to do is convert existing Divx files encoded to to be view on a TV into a size that will play on my PDA. With movies it's not a problem to create the PDA version directly from the dvd because it's all 1 file. It's series with epsidoes thats a problem because I want each episdoe in a separate file without the opening and ending credits. It's a very tedious process when all 5 episodes are on the DVD as 1 large video file. It requires that I split each chapater into separate divx files(something Clonedvd mobile can do automatically), delete the files for the opening and closing credits(that's about 10 files) then merge the remaining chapters to from a 1 file containing a single episdoes. Which requires 5 merge jobs. Times that by 6 DVDs and it's a real pain in the ass with lots of room for making a mistake. Why should I go though that process again? All I want is my exisitng files converted in 320x240 with a few clicks of the button. Divx Plus converter has the right type of interface but it's coded very poorly so it runs like shit. No it's not my computer . I'm running an Intel i7 920 LGA 1366 with 6GB ram. |
