| The Road Warrior is on. Would love to see a remake of that film it could be badass. |

NO REMAKES! LEAVE CLASSIC MOVIES ALONE! GET NEW IDEAS DAMMIT!!! Calm down. It is and will always be a classic but I think if done right with todays graphics capabilities it could be a great remake. Stick to the story make the dialogue better. Make it more realistic and more girtty and move away from the cheese like dudes in football gear, hockey masks and bondage harnesses, none of which people would actualy wear if things were like they were in The Road Warrior. |

Mad Max, The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome (Well not so much Beyond Thunderdome) stand on their own and do not need to be redone. I heard that Fury Road had been killed but I could be wrong.
NM, It is in pre production. I hope it isn't all Hollywood. The entire idea of the Road Warrior made for a perfect post apocalyptic film for car guys. Even if it isn't plausible. If Miller goes all Matrix and Transporter 2 on it then I am going to Australia to slap the ever loving shit out of him. |

Actually, given the 'Liberian Floating Body Armor' situation, the use of sports-armor as body armor isn't that far off for a crazy post-apocalyptic world.... |

I guess I need to go get me some shoulder pads and leather cod peice. |

IIRC Max's shoulder piece did deflect a bolt shot from one of the airguns...glanced off into the seat instead of poking a hole in his chest. Fired by the bikecop looking baddie down thru the roof of the Mack (before Max gave him a 12g buckshot vasectomy). With the scarcity of firearms (Max & the Humongus were the only gun toting characters in the 2nd movie, & were really tight with expending ammo) the football/hockey sporting goods & leather do make sense to defend against impact & low velocity projectiles. |

You're basing the legitamacy of wearing shoulder pads as battle armor on a movie deflection? Wearing plastic sports gear or a bondage harness vs a cross bow makes no sense. |

Actually, IIRC Max's shoulder piece was metal. And some armor is better than no armor anyday of the week. Scrounged sports-gear > non existant kevlar. Granted, with all the dead cars/scrap metal around I think I'd try to make some sort of plate/scale/brigadine armor that covered a lot more...but probably die from heat stroke from the brutal outback Aussie sun.... Wouldn't do as much for crashes & the like either.
Some of the studded leather stuff the badguys were wearing could have been brigadine (the gimp suit & goggle wearing goon that Warrior Woman throat slashed as he was trying to get to the bus/gate). |

One of the great things about the movie is the stunts. And the bondage gear and sporting goods just adds to the glorious weirdness, and connects the post-apocalyptic world to ours. A modern shaky-cam remake would be a travesty.

I think that the football pads, cod pieces, and cheesy costuming in general was an important part of the movie. Keep in mind it is only a movie, it was made to entertain, not educate us on the appropriate methods of fighting a post apocalyptic fight for survival. A remake would probably look a lot better, have better acting, cost a lot more, be far more realistic, and in the end would be about a quarter as entertaining.
Some people take movies way to seriously, and when you do that, you are not likely to enjoy much. If you want reality, then watch youtube, there is enough reality for anybody there, of course most of it is about as entertaining as watching paint dry, but it conforms to reality. |
