I live in Florida and bought an ex-mil Blazer a couple of years ago.  I received the title but never put it in my name and don’t think the previous owner did either IIRC.  I ‘misplaced’ the title somewhere but can’t put my hand to it and consider it lost.  So it sits and I crank it up occasionally to keep it running.

So what are my options?  Titling company, sell it for junk???

some states offer a "bonded title" otherwise. just goto the DMV and ask.

I don't know FL but in PA the last titled owner has to apply for a dup title. It's real easy... But when the 'last' owner was several owners or years ago it can get very tough and sometimes imposable. But like I said, that's in PA.

I'm going thru this with a Rhino I bought. I had to get a Surety Bond before applying for the title.

I got mine thru my insurance company.

If it's not in your name then good luck... If it was you go to the dmv and get another one.

As others have said, you typically need the previous owner to apply for a new title. If that's not possible, call your secretary of state for advice. You may be SOL. I wanted to caution you on the fact there are websites out there that will tell you they can get a title for it. They have you print out some paperwork and get a police officer to sign it. I as an LEO have been asked to sign one before and I refuse. You pay first then you get the paperwork. I believe those sites are scams, because it's a non govt corp. I have never heard of an officer signing one and what the results are, so be cautious.

Do you have a bill of sale for it?  That may help you some to at least show proof of ownership..  If you know a LEO, maybe they could run the VIN and see who it is registered to.. Then maybe you could contact the registered owner to request a duplicate title and sign it over to you..

Here in VA your seller should have titled it (and pay the 3% title tax) and then sold it to you.. Title jumping is considered a big No-No

Having an open title (seller signed but not buyer) is also a big no-no in FL. They made me forge get a bill of sale on the last car I bought when I lived there because the guy I bought the car from had the open title from the previous owner.
