I had a transformer explode at 1am in my hood, there was bright flash of light that literally lite up my whole house, and huge bang. I called the power company and they had a crew out. |

Transformers rarely explode. That's just the fuse blowing. Most likely from an animal on top of it. There are also fuses to protect the wires which may go bang when I tree or something comes across them. Stop saying the transformer blew god damnit because it probably didn't, the fuse did. Thank you

Like I said, I don't know how that could even happen, but it did. I'm sure it was an old transformer design. It was on an AF base, probably installed in the 50's. Last home was surrounded by wooded ravines.
Power lines ran through these wooded ravines. Lots of squirrels and broken branches in wooded ravines. I swear if a butteryfly broke wind around that house we would lose power. Sometimes for days but always for 4-6 hours. |
