Can anyone settle a debate I'm having with a prosepctive buyer of my M4gery?

He is claiming the Colt sold SOME M4 Carbines Stamped Tactical A3 to the Civilian Market. Rifles that were not restricted.
I tried looking on the Model list at

http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/variants/

I don't see any such listing. Were there ANY Colt M4 Carbines released to the Civilain Market by Colt? If there are some on the market are they of questionable heritage (meaning did they get released from LE/Gov. restricted sources through questionable means)?
Any info will be useful.
I am simply trying to arm myself with info. to haggle the price on my M4gery so I don't get too beat up (I want to atleast get my money back).

doesn't a "true" M4 have a 3 round burst and full auto selector switch? So any M4 released to the public wouldn't be a true M4 anyway.

Your associate is probably thinking of the 6721.
They are  marked "AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine".
Only 134 of them are preban.

However, they came with a 16 inch hbar barrel and not the M4 profile.

There is no such thing as a “factory” built semi-auto “M4".

The 6721 is probably the closed they came, lacking only the barrel.
