I got back from work tonight, logged onto a medical forum, saw lots of posts about various peoples' MCAT scores ("Is this good enough," "waaaaaahhhh," "woo hoo," etc). Being clever, I realized that this meant the scores must have already been released, so I went to the MCAT THx site to check mine.

After ten minutes of resetting my forgotten password, I was able to view my scores. My reactions, in sequence:

I am mightily pleased, did better than I expected. I have to figure out something to do/buy for myself to celebrate.

My GPA is currently 3.971 (1 B, all the rest A's in the three years I've been in college), I'm a biomedical engineering major and I'll graduate with minors in chemistry and either math or physics, depending on which elective I take, and I've been actively volunteering with a rescue squad since July 2001. And I work in the hospital, but that probably doesn't mean anything because it's a fairly unimportant job. If I get the new position I'm gunning for, though, it should be more impressive...

Only thing I haven't done is any kind of research, but since I have absolutely no interest in doing research as a career (I want to do minimally-invasive surgery) this shouldn't hurt me too badly.

Well...admittedly, my sights are set kind of low...I'm going to be applying to MCV in Richmond VA, that's one for sure. Now that I know my scores, I'll be doing some looking around to see where else I should apply.
