I was flipping through the channels this morning and came across an MSNBC program that was saying the shooting of Trayvon happened because "white" America is afraid of black people. This black female "ivy league school" professor went on to say that white people are just pulling the trigger on blacks and asking questions later.
Does this moron know the real stats? The vast majority of blacks are killed by blacks. White on black violence is just a fraction of black on black violence or even black on white violence. I can't believe how the media takes one case and makes it a whole race war issue, even when the killer was HISPANIC! How come when HISPANICS are crossing the border we must protect them because they are a minority, but when they kill a black person they are just another WHITE person? This shit has got to stop. |

We're all racist, everything is racist, blah, blah, cry and cry some more then whine. Really I've never discriminated against any black, but I'm not blind to the fact that where they are there tends to be higher crime rates. Is that fear of black people or just a recognition of a reality of life? When I see a black man dressed like Carlton I don't have any fear of them. When I see a black man dressed like a thug I am very defensively minded toward them just as I would seeing some white trash dressed like a thug. |

Now that the colors and the hatred are reversed, will a prominent civil rights attorney step forward to defend Mr. Zimmerman? Unlikely. We've made no progress at all on race relations since 1925, and the problem is that those who continue to fan the flames of hatred - Jackson, Sharpton, Obama, et al - have no interest in it. Because racial harmony, if that idea is possible, would deprive them of their source of power and control, not only over liberal whites but over their own people, as Eric Holder famously stated. |

The guy may indeed be a white Hispanic. "Hispanic" is a pretty meaningless term as it can be applied to people of majorly European decent, Native American decent, African decent, and any mixture there of. its more useful as an identifier of culture and possibly upbringing than it is for race. It is clear however that focusing that the guy is "white" is aimed at politicizing this case just like focusing on obama being black. I disagree about the Obama thing. I think its far more likely that they'll continue to say that he was black and try to whitewash (no pun intended  ) his failures. |

I understand and agree with the need to know and understand the enemy, but ending the segregation between liberals and conservatives sounds like a typical liberal ploy: we all need to get along, and the way to do that is for everyone to think like us. |

If there's common ground between the Tea Party and the OWS, it's the "don't tell me what to do and try to run my life" mantra. But they diverge in diametrically different directions from there. The OWS types impress me as "I want everything provided to me, and don't tell me that I have to do anything in return," while the Tea Party types don't want anything from the government other than the basics provided for in the Constitution. Not a whole lot of common marching ground there. And if these two groups did march together, which one do you think will do the clean up? The difference in what the U. S. Capitol grounds looked like after the Tea Party events versus what every area occupied by the OWS groups looked like tells the whole story about the vastly different values of these two movements. I don't expect our politicians to come together. Frankly, I don't want Jim DeMint to find very much common ground with Chuck Schumer. The whole idea of togetherness and working together results in Olympia Snowe: the principles of the Constitution get co-opted and corroded by progressivism. Sure, we should listen to the other side so we know what they intend to do and how they intend to do it. And we should do that with a certain minimum of respect (which is usually more than can be said for the left.) But there are many values and principles that I won't compromise on - go read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution if you want to know what they are - and kumbaya togetherness and harmony are not more important that freedom. |

But I'm not wearing their shoes. I never sold weed on a street corner, or committed any other drug offense. So to expect that I'm okay with giving those who have done these things and worse a pass, or behaving as if they never did anything wrong, is unreasonable. And you're just giving lip service to individual responsibility. The other things you've posted are anything but. |

The government recognizes the following as separate and distinct races: White or Caucasian Black/African American Indian/Native American/Native Alaskan Asian Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Most government forms will also allow you to select "Other". It honestly alienates a lot of people. A lot of Caribbean people from the various islands appear black. They are descendants of African slaves and native islanders. Different islands have different opinions of who or what they are. They do not all consider themselves as "Black" or "African". Like wise Central and South American people. They don't feel as though they fit in to any of those categories either. As an EOL in the Army this constantly comes up during unit EO training. |
