When I type in a number value such as $480 it displays it as #### in the box. When I float the cursor over it it displays the correct value in a small yellow pop up box to the side. When I print preview it more of the number values are shown as ##### and many of the borders are missing. This may be a slightly older version of Excel that my job is using and I'm on my newer home PC. But this worked fine last week.

Wow...you couldn't figure that out yourself? Fail... ![]() Selective intelligence....I can figure out in my head the correct drip rate of dopamine. If I have a 180 pound patient and my mix is 1600 mcg per mL and the doc orders 5 mcg/Kg/min via a minidrip I have some math to do....well on a test. There's a cheat sheet in my ambulance. You know 12 lead EKG interpretation isn't easy either....

Please tell us you don't use excel on a daily basis for your job???????????? I don't. I've made list in Excel sheets before but never had to make formulas. This was an admin project that got delegated to me for a completely unknown reason. They wanted me to spec equipment and training that has nothing to do with my job title or duties. A true bureaucracy in action as I do mostly EMS instruction. I couldn't understand why when I saved it at work it was fine but when I opened it at home it wasn't. Column/cell size never entered my mind as I had opened this saved sheet at home for revisions and it had never done this before. It has been sent up the chain and back down for repeated revisions so maybe someone else screwed with it. |

Tip: You can double-click on the column (or row) divider and Excel will automagically resize the column width.
IOW, hover your mouse over the column divider at the top of the sheet, your cursor will change to a vertical bar with an arrow pointing left and right, then double click. |

Another question. How do I save one worksheet from a multipage workbook as a separate document? Well if you have a Mac you just drag it outside the Excel window. There might be a simple way to do it, but I know you can right click on the work sheet and then go to move or copy and then choose to go to a new workbook. |

Another question. How do I save one worksheet from a multipage workbook as a separate document? Go to that sheet, press Alt, E, M In the "to book" drop down box, select new book. If you want the sheet to remain in the original book, select create a copy, otherwise the sheet will be cut out and moved over. Any other questions, please shoot away. I have spent entirely way too much time in excel. ETA: This applies to 2003, but should work in the Vista version as well. While Vista looks nicer, it is a pain in the ass for people that use the shortcut keys. |

-shudder-
This thread is forcibly reminding me of my CS285 Excel class and the lengthy homework/lab I have due Monday. Dammit, ARF! You're supposed to be my reprieve from mind numbing schoolwork! Thoughts of VLOOKUP and Macros and IF and ANDIF functions and ranges and columns and fields! -shudder- |

For the record.. - If you double click on the right hand column divider it will automatically adjust to fit the needed width of the column.. Brian |
