The ransomware attack has made me look into security software for my MacBook and iPhone, even though this weekend's attack was aimed at Windows machines.
What do you use? I don't use anything at this point, other than ad blockers and such on Safari (browser I use). |

My GF has Geico and they told her that if she took an online 'defensive driving course' she'd save $60 on her 6 month premiums. Last week, she did the course and in the process, had to download Acrobat Reader to see the videos (or something like that), on her MacBook Pro (late 2012.) She got AIDS in the process with some browser hijacker getting installed. It was a mess and she never told me. I'm a PC guy and don't know much about Apple, so I remember GD's suggestion and Avast, I think it is? Worked like a charm and she was AIDS free after the first pass (21 AIDes.) Chris |

Not a Apple user. However over the years I have used both ESET and Webroot on many windows systems and have been rock solid over the years and they both have Mac versions. If you really want to get your security software geek on there are some good forums out there. Wilders, bleeping.....forgetting some of the others.
Overall companies/products that get my thumbs up. Sandboxie Eset Malwarebytes Antimalware (looking over the issues with 3.xx) Webroot Emsisoft **If and when you decide to buy something, never EVER pay full price. AV software goes on sale all the time. I got my 5 device 2 year Eset for $20 with 1 year of MBAM prem free** |
