I was watching an interview with Tom Selleck about “Magnum, PI.”  He was saying that the producers wanted to downplay the Vietnam Vet backgrounds of Tom, TC, and Rick, but he argued with them that it was a major part of who these characters were.  He said that VN Vets were being portrayed as drug-crazed psychotics and social misfits, and that they deserved better.

He fought for it and won.  Thus came to television a positive image of Vietnam Veterans.

Another thumbs-up for Mr. Selleck!

Wait, but TC really was a crazed Vietnam veteran.
He was brainwashed by the NVA and Russians to fly his Army Reserve helo and kill foreign dignitaries.  Oops.

Any news on a new Quigley movie?
Also, how do we draft him for political office?
Senator Selleck has a ring to it.

I saw an ad for a movie with him coming up on CBS, next weekend IIRC.

He just seemed so natural in the westerns he did.

For all eligible NRA members to vote on the coming NRA BoD:
Mr. Selleck is running for a seat on the NRA's BoD for the NRA's annual meeting Apr 15-17 in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Ctr. Also appearing as candidates is Sen. Zell Miller and director John Milius.

Favorite show, favorite actor.  Sure is nice to have one of our own in the hollywood crowd.

I sure was glad when they started releasing Magnum on DVD...all my videotapes were wearing out

Too bad a Magnum movie never got made while Selleck was still young enough to play the role convincingly.
